Oriental Braised Beef

1 pound stew meat, cut into 1 1/2" pieces
1 clove of garlic, minced
3 tablespoons oil
2 green onions, cut into 2" pieces
2 ounce ginger root, minced
1/2 cup sake
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup soy sauce
dash of pepper

Heat oil and saute beef and garlic, until beef changes color. Add remaining ingredients and simmer until done.
