Swedish Meatballs

3/4 pound ground beef
3/4 pound ground pork
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion, minced
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon allspice
dash sugar

Combine beef and pork in a large bowl and set aside. In a small bowl soak the bread crumbs in the milk.

Heat butter in skillet and add onion. Saute until onion is tender but not brown. Add onion to meat mixture. Add in eggs, salt, pepper, allspice, sugar and bread crumbs. Mix thoroughly. Shape into balls.

Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet. Add meatballs and brown on all sides, shaking pan occasionally. Add meatballs to gravy and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes.

Cream Gravy

3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups half and half
dash of salt
dash of pepper
dash of sugar
brown cooking sauce

Melt butter in sauce pan. Stir in flour until smooth. Gradually stir in milk, half and half, salt, pepper and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Simmer, stirring until sauce is shiny. Stir in enough brown cooking sauce to make gravy light brown in color (about 2 teaspoons).
