Onion Stuffed Steak Recipe


  • 2 pounds steak, cut 1 1/2 inches thick
  • 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 green onion diced
  • dash of celery salt
  • dash of pepper


  1. Slash fat edges of steak. Slice pockets in each side, cutting almost to bone.

  2. In a frying pan, cook chopped onion and garlic in 1 tablespoon of butter. 

  3.  Add celery salt and pepper. Stuff pockets with onion mixture.

  4. Mix wine and soy sauce; brush on steak.

  5. Grill with hood closed 15 minutes, basting often.

  6. Turn steak; grill 10 to 15 minutes longer. If you prefer your meat a bit more done add a few minutes cooking time to each side. Baste often.

  7. Cook mushrooms and green onions in 2 tablespoons of butter until tender; spoon over steaks.
